Technically it can if you can change the boot mode

But noone knows how - apart from desoldering the flash ram chips, and then manually reflashing. But you need tools for that.

*sigh*, I'm resigned to not being able to get split screen I guess. Is it at least possible to remove the land rover splash screen that it has? I tried using navtweak but the disc layout is quite different from the BMW disc and I'm not sure where to look.

No, not possible. The Range Rover nav is too rare and too old for anyone to write tools for it these days.

And the existing tools work with BMW nav, not with Range Rover nav.

Dump the rover unit and buy a bmw one, then you can have the splash and splitscreen.
