Based on his integrity, is it possible a non-BMW dealership could actually do a good four wheel alignment?:dunno: He does have the latest and greatest of equipment, so...

The same guy did a C5 Corvette for me and it was absolutely perfect.

hi has anyone had a sports seat apart,

my 2005 x5 sports drivers seat, thigh support (outer ) seems to be broken.

its as if there is a tubular metal piece that gives it its shape and support and it seems to be broken, if i grab the seat squab, or edge and move it there is a clicking sound like two pieces meeting and then separating.

so i wondered how hard it would be to A: get the seat out and B: remove the leather trim to allow access to the seat frame, and maybe repair it

oh my seats are electric with memory on the drivers side and the under thigh cushion that is extendable.

i,m sorry my description is probably not the best, but the bit that is broken is the side squab that is up raised and cops a hammering every time you get in and out

thanks

Yesterday morning when I started the car and buckled up the "fasten seat belt" warning continued on and the chime kept going off for about 5 minutes. Then no more chime or msg on cluster, but the seat belt sign on dash continued on. The steering wheel controls are not working while all this is happening. The car continued doing this today as well every time I start it. Then, on top of that, this evening, the headlights started flickering all the way from home to the movie theater and on the way home, and the interior lights came on and stayed on all the way home.
Anyone has any idea:dunno: what could be causing all this? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I left and 30 seconds later i realized the squeek was still there and made a u,ee and talked to the gm and he said sorry ill take care of it. i get the call a day later suppossedly it was the passenger side control arm which cost $1,031 bucks... i stated just fix the problem please.....i picked up the car after two more days and then i left after being furious from the first misdiagnose.... and i thought i heard something but said to myself its a figment of my imagination but low and behold when i arrived home i went to my lake which has speed bumps and there it was again........holy fwqopeuroqpweurq i am now a mellow dude but just do me right...i called the gm and let it rip,,,,,said hope you are ready for a hurricane cause all i asked for was to get rid of a simple squeek and never asked for a price and you couldnet even do that now you made me spend and wait for five days without my baby and its done what now? all he did was apologize but F that I say never go to Bridgeport, Ct. BMW they know shit and simple at that a back yard mechnic could fix it...question is how far is it worth me going with this on this stealer?

Folks,

Some of you may recall awhile back I was having some vibration problems.

I still am. I've been to a couple shops, and umpteen trips to the dealer. No one seems to be able to diagnose exactly where this vibration is coming from.

I"ve got decent, good mechanics here - both at the dealer, and at independent shops.

I"m looking for the *best* guy though. Willing to travel...I just want the car fixed.

So... if you know that incredibly anal, extremely smart, slightly (or very) odd mechanic who has his own shop, and particularly likes challenges, I'd like to get their name and number and have a chat - and potentially drive up to see them.

I'm not looking for a run of the mill place - I'm looking for those *exceptional* folks, who can take a roll of steel and a roll of copper and make a car, an engine harness, design a driveshaft out of cardboard, and make it all work...

There are a couple of these folks in the "volvo-land" that I play with, but I don't know a guru like this for BMW.

Thanks!

Hi folks,

My OEM widescreen nav unit went psycho yesterday. I started up the car the lcd screen lit up as usual everything seems normal, BUT, no music was coming through the speakers. I have been using a cassette tape to aux jack connected to my ipod sitting in cup holder (thought fm modulator would be worse soundquality). I click left jog dial off and then back on and then WAM...monitor starts flicking on and off, radio is on but i cant shut it off because all the buttons on head unit were not functioning. So Im thinking the cassette adaptor is the issue but the eject button wouldn't work.
I turn the car on and off but issue remains...kept pushing eject button to no avail. I start driving and suddenly the monitor starts trying to eject itself by flipping down the screen continously, yet it couldn't fully complete the process and eject the tape and in between the screen flickering I can see a warning saying internal temperature over heat followed by some weird mechanical noise behind screen which didn't sound like the motor eject mechanism.
I was late for work so i had to keep driving all the while this thing is flickering, ejecting back and forth and the radio wont shut up.
Get to work and finally cassette comes out but unit still going mental, even when I turn off the car. I come back an hour later to the car hoping that the proper power down routine will cure the problem and voila it had things were back to normal, im not game to use the cassette though.

Thought I would share this weird experience and wondering if there are any thoughts on the matter? I don't whether there are larger electrical gremlins at play here or what.

cheers

Went to auto parts to get it scanned, gave me code P1525, P0340, P0369. Two of them are camshaft sensors, the other one says manufacture specific DTC (P1525).
The sensors I put in were from Advanced auto parts, brand name BWD. Would that have anything to do with it, or should I just go back and check them and take them out and put them back in, maybe theirs a leak somewhere?

Or should I just take those back and order OEM from bavauto.
Thanks for any help.
