Upgrading from v18 to v22

Hi

What I will benefit by upgrading MKIII from V18 to V22 ? will it be more accurate or faster and what is the issue of losing Radio screen does that mean I will not be able to listen to radio while I can see the GPS map

Another thing right now may nav measures the distance in meter will the update change it to yard or something else ?

Thanks in advance

You will get: less bugs, improved functionality, a better nav unit.
v 3-1/63 was the last version ever produced, you should upgrade you nav to this version.

Any programming issues can be corrected with my NavCoder app. You can set region to Europe, radio mode to your preference, etc.

Radio sound is not affected at all by a nav upgrade

The newer OS release give several usability improvements, including:
  • Split screen view (shows map & turn instructions simultaneously)
  • Improved screen fonts and clarity
  • More routing options
  • Better use of colors and point of interest icons
  • Menus better organized and more intuitive

It will not affect radio use at all. The difference is that your radio now shows the On-Board Computer information in the lower portion of the radio screen. You will lose the OBC view with the radio, but you still have the OBC menu option. The plus is that you gain the split screen view that shows turn instructions simultaneously with the map view.

Also, showing distances in meters versus feet or yards is a setting in the main navigation "SETTINGS" menu. So, the OS upgrade will not affect that at all.

Actually the firmware can affect part of it. In USA mode, the distance is feet but in Euro mode it is yards..... This cannot be changed in the setup menu and can only be cahnged by coding as mentioned above.

I’ll burn the CD as instruction; I may use the v29 since it seems it will upgrade me to the latest MKIII update which is v22 I believe

What about the navcoder what it can do for me exactly other than TV in motion ?

I’m living in Bahrain but my 330ci imported from US, therefore I’m facing a problem when I’m tuning the radio channel each press increasing the channel by two steps for instance when I’, on the Frq 89.1 and want to tune it to 89.2 it jumps to 83.3 is there a menu screen or any tricks that can fix this

I hope I didn’t get stuck in the middle ( freeze CD)

Actually you can resolve this. On the radio there is a "M" button. If you turn the car on (don't touch any other buttons). Hold the M down for a few seconds and you will eventually get another hidden menu on the screen. Then use the + or - signs navigate to where it says USA then use the number buttons to select Europe. Turn the radio off and back on. It should be good to go.

As for NAV coder, it let's you change the region and voices as well. Most people just hack the software.

Try these steps to get into the radio service menu and change your AREA settings:
  1. Turn your car on (either position 1 or position 2)
  2. If the radio is on, turn it off
  3. Turn the radio on
  4. Immediatly push the INFO button
  5. Rotate the right knob to make either RDS or TP the focus (do not push the knob to select it)
  6. Press and hold the INFO button for at least 8 seconds, until the screen switches to show the radio serial number
  7. Use the < > keys to move through teh options in radio service menu
  8. Select the "AREA" option
  9. Use the 1 and 2 preset buttons to change the areas; select the one appropriate for you
  10. Turn off the radio to save the settings
  11. Turn the radio back on to restore its normal use

It can set your region to europe. This will eliminate the annoying nag screen that plagues USA vehicles
