Got the steering wheel control, can voice dial my phone from the radio, can see all my contacts, missed calls, dialed calls, any call from the radio. Can play mp3s thru the bluetooth connection from my phone, had an sd slot for pics or video or music, has rear backup camera,

This radio is awesome and has everything! It even turns on and shuts off to the greeting of your choice. There's so much stuff I left out. Afew drawbacks here and there but the best part, esp with me living in Brooklyn, is the fact that I can remove the face and take it with me.

I think the guys did a good job with the bezel although they cheated and used (particleboard?) some kind of pressed wood that they contoured and then covered with leather.

Regards your radio again..
I just finished reading your post about your radio and you've already stated that it cost you a little less than $1000 for the parts. How much did it costs to have it installed with the bezel? Can you also please give me the list of parts to get all of those features you mentioned in the forum? What are the draw backs or cons since you had this radio? I hope you have extra time to answer all my questions. Your set-up by far is the best one I've seen in all forums which lead me with all these questions and wanting to get one.

Thanks again,
XXXX

Thanks for your compliment. As far as the installation, it wound up costing $970 but I had a 600 watt 4-ch amp and four JL 300 watts 2way speakers installed as well. Without those items, the install was supposed to be only about $500. The items I bought off of Ebay were:

VALOR UNIVERSAL 6 DISC MOBILE CAR VIDEO DVD/CD CHANGER

I didnt want/need the satellite/HD radio option. Additionally, JVC didnt offer a DVD changer. I wanted a changer that could play any media (.mp3, .wav, .avi, etc) so I went with the Valor brand. It was by far the least expensive DVD changer I could find (actually I only found like 3 or so) by at least $200.

I'd recommend that if anyone buys the iPod cable, spend the extra $15-$30 and buy the JVC brand cable. I dont own an ipod, but friends have gotten in my car and the cable made in Taiwan doesnt seem to navigate an ipod thru the head unit the way its supposed to.

One gripe I have is that once you are on a phone call thru the bluetooth connection, you cant make any changes to the navigation system. I had my system wired that I can make changes en-route as well as watch dvds while the car is in motion too.

But if you happen to get a phone call and then need to use the navigation, you have to hang up, enter your destination, and then you can call back. But the navigation works flawlessly and gives voice prompts over the person you are talking to.

The swi-pac unit (allows you to change the source, track, radio station, volume, and att thru the factory steering wheel controls) I have may be defective because when you blow the horn the source sometimes changes (and living in NYC the source changes ALOT). The shop reprogrammed it several times to no avail. They either did something wrong or the unit is indeed broken. I will work on it myself in the summertime.

Other than that, the head unit is great! Its detachable so there's little risk of theft or break in for this expensive unit. Its very user friendly and even greets me verbally (of my own programming) as I enter and leave my X!

It is highly recommended. Feel free to ask me anything about it.

Looks fantastic. Quick question - Did you already have the factor nav? My new 4.6is has the factory navigation, but the screen is bad. The seller told me that he would get me a new screen, but I am thinking of replacing the entire system with a newer head unit.

Thanks for the compliment. No, I had the regular factory dsp non-navigation stereo. Was expensive, but to me worth it.

Just seeing if this is something someone would be interested in purchasing my bezel. It is a VERY solid piece, about 3/4"-1" thick, has universal bracketing attached for use w/ I'm guessing just about any double din deck. I'm 6'4" and have been accused of reclining my seat back enough to appear that I'm in the backseat If I sit upright like a "normal" person the angle is great, but that simply isn't how I sit in my X, especially on 8hr roadtrips back and forth from Seattle and Reno. I bought this from Sobi (his X5 in the pics, it's too cold in the garage to take new pics w/ my black interior ...unless that'll make or break the sale), I definately sit further back from the screen than he does, and he can confirm that it's a studry bezel and in great shape...for someone under 6' or sits more upright. I'm looking to sell this bezel and force myself to pay the difference to get a mybimmer.net bezel instead. I'd like to get at least like $150, maybe even shipped for it. Any takers?

Yeah because when you're 6'4", the .25" of proximity between bezel reach makes all the difference in the world...
