New Xoutpost Member Identification Method!!
).Since I joined Xoutpost, I drive around my neighborhood/city/geographic region, I always see different and interesting X's with interesting mods or maybe someone's X might be getting towed or some other random situation. I always wonder if the person is a member of Xoutpost. Surely we've all driven past an X at somepoint or another and said to ourselves, "Wow, I wish there was a way to know who that was". Well that day has come! I've now figured out a way for us Xoutpost member to have our own version of Facebook! Well at least the search people function on Facebook. And if you register properly, we can see each other in passing, logon to Xoutpost.com, use the advanced search feature, and IMMEDIATELY be able to figure out who was who instead of saying, "I know I saw that X somewhere on this thread or that thread..." And this should be alot of fun too! Sooo here's what everyone that wants to participate has to do: 1) Go to your X's specified forum (ie: E53, E70, E83, etc). If you currently own multiple X vehicles, make a post for each of your vehicles. 2) Start an entirely new thread in your vehicle specific forum. I'll use my own vehicle as an example for the following. In the the E53 forum, start a new thread. Under thread title, enter the word "Member" and then your X's model year (2001) and platform code (E53), BMW color code (Titanium Silver), and basic or even specific geographic region (Brooklyn, NYC NY NEW YORK). So the title of my post would look something like this: "Member 2001 X5 3.0 Titanium Silver Widebody kit 20" wheels Brooklyn NYC NY New York" 3) Add a picture (or pictures) of your X to your thread and if you wish even a picture of yourself. Say anything you wish to share about yourself and your X in your member thread. You can provide a link to your X homepage or Facebook or Myspace or whatever you like. It's always interesting to know more about the people we're talking to on this site. 4) Now close the post (or you can leave it open for others to make comments or posts if you wish)! And you're finished! Now on to the fun part! Searching for members! 1) Click on "Search" function, the third option from the top right of the Xoutpost homepage. When the "Search Forums" window comes up, click on the blue "Advanced Search" words. 2) When the "Search Forums" page comes up, at the top left of the page there will be a "Keyword(s)" field. Below that there's the option of "Search Entire Posts" or "Search Titles Only". Change to the option of "Search Titles Only". Now in "Keyword(s)" field, enter "Member" and then color code (Titanium Silver) and then platform type (E53) and then engine type (3.0) and then specific area you saw the X in (state, city, town ie:Brooklyn New York NYC NY). Or you can just put in any identifying characteristics you saw on the X (ie: sport package, magnaflows, dropped, deleted roof rack, Aero Kit, bug deflector, led tails, tinted windows, etc). If there are any other identifying keywords you wish to include in your title, DO IT!! There are tons of gray X's out there but if someone did a "Member Titanium silver widebody 20" rims" search they'd most likely come across my post even if they didnt know what year or platform code it was. Even a basic search "X5 Silver Brooklyn" would pull up any member in Brooklyn with a silver X5 up. Now, anytime members pass each other on the street or see X's parked somewhere and just want to say "hey" or "nice ride" they'll have a failproof way of identifying each other. Or at the very least they'll have a way of narrowing it down and be able to PM each other. So come on folks! Let’s be creative and don’t forget to have fun! If I’ve forgotten anything or you have any ideas that would be helpful, feel free to share on this thread. Let us know you've created your page by replying to this thread. And so what if its the same pictures you've already used, now we can put a name to a face... well X... you get it...

Xoutpost stickers might work, but what if you're passing each other on a busy street and you miss them?
Its so funny, less than 4 hours ago, I'm driving thru NYC and on Amsterdam and 79th and I see a familiar looking blue e53 with powdercoated wheels and the hazards were on with them flashing slightly blue. I said to myself "I think I've seen this X before" and I pulled over as a guy returned to the X. I asked him if he was on Xoutpost and it was BMWX54.4! We chatted for a bit and then he was off and I had work to do. But if I hadnt seen him I'd have no way of knowing who it was. If he'd made a post saying "Member Blue X5 e53 4.4 2001 NYC" I would have easily been able to at least narrow it down who it was (had I not had a chance to stop). BTW, dude has a WICKED Remus exhaust!! A sound clip would do this exhaust no justice, I'm serious.

To me, Xoutpost still sounds like a sister company to Joe's. I wish we could have just stayed w/ the old name.
