Question Which HDR Program?

So, after enjoying SanGuru's recent HDRs, and HDR pics from some other posters here, I am confused by the plethora
of HDR programs available; GOOG'ng it shows a literal laundry list of HDR programs, some free, some cost, all say they are "the best"...

Not trying to save a few bucks; if the pay one(s) work the best that's fine.

Anyone have an opin or handle or rec'd on "which one"?
Thanks, mD

I haven't messed around with HDR yet but from what I've read you can't go wrong with Photomatix. You can download a trial version that puts a watermark on your photos but otherwise is fully functional.

The trick with HDR is not to over do it. I have seen pictures that look totally fake while others are very tastefully done and one can hardly tell if there was post processing done on the picture. Rayxi is right, Photomatix is the one that rocks. There are now a few Pentax DSLRs and others with HDR processing built in!!

Thanks, Ray & MiCkEy...that Photomatrix program, (not the free version),
looked like the one to get; I just needed some other sharp opins.

Gonna give it a whirl when I get back to the Mtns and have something scenic
to shoot, vs the palm studded surburban flats, here.
Thank you. mD

I started out with Photomatrix until I wanted a more powerful "upgrade" so, I got the Photoshop CS4.

Folks, it's Photomatix not Photomatrix. Photomatrix might be the next move Keanu Reeves is making.
