Minor Paint scratches. Fix?

mostly from snowboarding, and golfing resulting from knicks and scratches, but no actual paint chippin off. mostly the abrasions that leave barely but noticiable semi-white streaks (i have a black car). (i saw the bumper guard in the catalog and thought to myself "why?". now i know. putting the laundry basket on the bumper then sliding it off, is NOT a good thing!)

Is there a good aftermarket fix for this? maybe some time of color rub which i can wax thereafter to seal the color in?

Try maguiars swirl/scratch remover first, other than that a good detailer might be able to get them out with some touch up paint, clear cloat and an orbiter polisher.

Assuming you are buying the Porter Cable... Removing a scratch requires you to remove the layer of paint or clear coat that contains the defect. This is best accomplished by compounding and polishing with a circular polisher (Makita 9227, Dewalt 849).

That said, minor scratches can be easily removed with a dual-action polisher like the Porter Cable 7424 and deeper scratches can be made much less noticeable. The procedure requires spot compounding with a wool pad, spot polishing with a foam pad and finishing with your favorite wax or paint sealant. Compounding abrades away the area surrounding the scratch to the lowest point of the scratch. This makes the scratch invisible. Polishing fills any trace of the scratch and restores surface gloss. Finishing protects the surface with your favorite wax or sealant. no it doesn't come in colors, and yes, i've used it on my vette.

Ditto, stay away from the colored polishes. They try to mask scratches by filling them with dye I have never gotten good result with them.

Regarding the interior... Lexol Vinylex for the vinyl, Lexol Leather Cleaner and Lexol Leather Conditioner for the seats, Invisible Glass for the windows and eyeglass cleaning wipes for the nav screen.

I have seen Spinneybeck recommended a lot on various boards. Zaino and Griotsgarage.com also has good stuff for leather care.

sorry gresch. i guess my scratches are too deep. this didnt do anything for my car.... i think i need a colored one.... any suggestions?
