Coolant overflow hose break

My husband and I were putting coolant in, and a hose broke. It now leaks coolant (quite a lot) and I am curious if it is safe for me to drive to a dealership or if we should have it towed. Any suggestions?

BMW roadside will tow it. My hose did the same thing so I had BMW come and pick the car up for me.

Thank you for your replies. To test how bad the leak was, we started it and drove it about 50 feet. It was gushing. Our insurance would tow it to the nearest station, but we didn't want to do that, since the nearest station has very little dealings with BMW cars. I will look in to the BMW roadside, that's a great idea, though I'm not sure if it is expired. Thanks again

Was it one of the 2 30mm dia hoses in the back? - A previous thread mentioned these "wore out" around 50K miles - coolant seems to thin the rubber along with the heat from the engine - definitely a flatbed tow

Well, there is a part of it that is rubber, but the part that broke is plastic. My husband is out of town, so we will wait until he gets back to have it towed. He has a friend who thinks this part was supposed to be rubber, instead of just plastic. Attached is a photo of where the break is.

Coolant Expansion Hose

The same thing happened to me. I went to the dealer and got the prt for about $35 and replaced it myself - it's a faily simple thing to do. Just pull the cilps at either end and disconnet hose, then isntall new one.

Good Luck.
