DropTop was right about the resonators!

Earlier today I had the guy that did the exhaust on my Lambo remove the resonator. Drop was right. Its pretty loud. It has a real throaty sound and definitely much louder. Its definitely turning heads when you crank it over. Where I live in Miami there are quite alot of exotics and some of my fellow Lambo owners as well as a few Ferrari and Porsche drivers were pretty impressed by my 4.8. Even my partner who has a Cayenne is calling the guy that did my exhaust. Thanks for the tip Drop.

Has DropTop checked in here?

If possible can you record the sound of your exhaust without resonators and post the audio file. I want to compare and decide for my 4.8is.

rgnbull, do you notice any 'loss' of performance with the resonators removed? I assume you just replaced the resonator section with a straight through pipe of the same diameter (as the rest of the exhaust)?

Also, any unpleasant vibrations or resonance?

No loss in power. We did exactly that. Removed the resonator and replaced with 2 straight pipes back to the mufflers. It was done yesterday and when I first heard it I was like "oh-Boy", it has a little rattle to the sound. I left my mechanics and said that I will live with it for a few days and if its too much I would put back the resonators and try something else. But I am not sure why but after driving it for the 20 minute trip back home it smoothed out nicely. I must say it sounds unbelievable right now but I did notice that when its started cold, it does have a slight ratlle for the first 5 mins if I stomp it a bit. Your thought on the loss of power, is that because of less back pressure that you mention that?

Yes, I was just wondering if the resonators contributed to back pressure that helped the combustion process.

Do you have a link to DropTop's video, I would really like to hear for myself what it sounds like. I'm sure that given the number of 4.8is that I've driven, I could notice any improvement quite easily.
