Thumbs up New Dinan exhaust and TB installed!

Finally got the Dinan exhaust and throttle body installed on my 2005 4.4 on Friday!! Here's my report:

Power: Noticeably more torque all through the RPM range. When driving around in D or DS auto mode, trans. seems to require a downshift less often (it will find adequate power even at lower RPMs in 6th gear)

Sound: Wow! The sound is much more aggressive. Heads turn when it's started up... not sure if it's throatier than a 4.8/4.6, but I imagine it probably is. It has a nice rumble at idle and during heavy acceleration, but it's actually pretty civil - barely noticeable over stock - under conservative throttle pressure. My car-enthusiast friends noticed the difference in sound immediately, of course. But my wife did NOT notice, which was fortunate b/c I didn't mention to her that the Dinan mods were being done; I only mentioned getting the oil changed
[BTW, the next day when we hopped in the car and I turned the key, and the new exhaust announced it's presence with an authoritative BRAP! I just held my breath and looked at her out of the corner of my eye waiting for the expression change and the big "what did you do?!" question... but it never came! Somehow, amazingly, she just didn't notice the difference.]

Looks: Big improvement. The pipes are larger diameter, longer, and chrome, so they stand out much more than the stock black sport pipes. I really love the new look.

Gas Mileage: I was a little worried about this with state of the current gas prices, but I was pleasantly surprised. In fact, I averaged 24.7 MPG on my way back from the Poconos to Hoboken last night, which is considerably BETTER than I've ever gotten before. [The trip is about 100 miles - half interstate, 1/4 two lanes mountain roads, 1/4 4-lane secondary highways with stoplights.] I may have gone a little easier on the gas than usual, but the best I've ever done previously on that trip was about 22.5

Overall I'm very happy with the mods

How did you average that milage? Does the extra ponies in the 4.8=better MPG?

Need pics of those pipes! I never saw them in person, but the ones I see in pictures look awful in my opinion - simply cut off pieces of stainless steel pipe with a logo. Did they change this? I really like the looks of my black pipes!

Very funny story about the wife - I know exactly what you mean!!!

Overall it sounds like you're happy with the upgrade - congrats!

My only guess is that the extra torque, combined with ginger throttle use, resulted in fewer downshifts and big gulps of gas to maintain speed up and down the hills, and when passing cars on the highway...

They're probably the same ones you're thinking of. I actually like the look a lot - they're very clean, longer, and much bigger diameter than stock. Also, I like the contrast of the chrome against the black surrounding body... makes them stand out a lot more.

OK - I'll take your word for it - big bulldog balls it is! I think I'd still like to get the Dinan exhaust and have my stock tips welded on to keep the stock look. Wonder if anyone's done that yet? So take some pics Aaron! :-)

Nice!! I may have to quote you on that...

Thanks guys! I will def. post some pics - I just wanted to get a wash first to make everything shine...
Cost-wise, the exhaust was $1799 + $200 installation, and the TB was $599 + $80 installation, so with tax the whole thing was a little over $2800.

By the way, the gas mileage improvements are real! I got 20.8 on the way home from work tonight in nasty stop and go traffic.
