Pacific NW members and audio upgrades
For example, we are offering installation of a 10" subwoofer for the X5, with a 10" DLS subwoofer in a fiberglass enclosure in place of the OEM enclosure, with a matching grille in the panel in front of the sub, and a 200W mono DLS sub amp hidden on the driver's side of the rear area, under the sub floor. We would normally do this for $1300 installed, but for forum members we will do the entire installation for $1000 in the month of September. We guarantee your satisfaction, with a 30-day trial return policy that refunds ALL your money and puts the vehicle back to stock. For pics, see here For details, just send me an email. Oh, in response to inquiries, we don't have a mold of the sub box, we make it specific for each car, so we can't ship, sorry.

Since I am hundreds of miles from the Pacific NW USA, I am disappointed. I am sure many of us would be interested in buying that sub box if you ever decided to mass produce them.

Do you need the factory box or the X5 itself for the mold? I would be happy to send you the factory box if that's all you need.

yeah, i think there is tons of interest in a mass produced box....
is it possible to create a box that will fit 2-8" subs? |

Add another to the list. I'd buy one if the price is right.

That sub enclosure is larger than the OEM enclosure in almost every dimension. It's deeper, it's wider, it's taller.
I understand and agree, if an off-the-shelf one could be made, it would be great. We do an off-the-shelf box for an Acura, for example, but it is a LOT simpler than this box due to the shape we used to get the extra volume. I'm sure that if JL ever makes a Stealthbox, it will be shaped like ours (but made at a production glass facility). (Then we'll see what theirs costs. I don't expect my price to be "right". It will be fair, though...) |

So how many orders would it take for you guys to offer this as a product? I'm getting ready to buy and x5 and this would be a key issue for me. I live on the east coast. Seems like a good opportunity for you guys! The X5 is not "on the list" for JL audio so you guys would own the market.

Well the first thing it will take, seriously, is for ONE Pacific NW forum member to contact us so we can use his car as the mold for a production unit.
I've been talking to my install manager and I could definitely make one for a long throw 8" that wouldn't need the lower forward chamber to increase the volume. We may need some experimenting to find the right driver for that volume, but that's do-able. I will be checking some things next week in the X5 in the pics and I'll check some things while it's here (I'll probably measure the enclosure internal volume with some styrofoam peanuts), but I won't have it long enough to use it for a mold. I'll still need another vehicle for that. |
