New Exhaust or Tips

Alright I am stuck with this and could use some advise. I bought 4.8/4.6is TIPS from Morrisville BMW but I am not sure if I want to use them or not. I am deciding between Tips and an entire exhaust system, like Eisman or Remus. Should I sell my tips, here ebay, return them to Morristown BMW or install them?

first of all, what engine do you have? 3.0 or 4.4? second, the sound of stock exhaust is just fine, you dont need more rumble to it. well, it depends on your taste. i dont want any more noise than it is already is, so i installed the 4.6/4.8is tips on my 3.0 last year. i just want the look. it doesnt matter what kind of exhaust system you use, it is not gonna give you a lot of power on an 3.0. so why bother spending thousand on the whole new system.

You need more rumble!! Go wth either a 4.6 exhaust or an aftermarket! The X5 sounds weak with the stock exhaust. Eisenmann!!

Just my $.02!!

I have a 4.4, going to install cross pipe
Well I really didn't want to pay the exta money, but after all is said and done I am considering buying one. I would rather pick up a used 4.6 system, but.....

On a slightly different angle.... can the 3.0D Sport back box be upgraded or modded to protrude from the bumper (like the one above) instead of sulking behind? Without affecting compression/performence etc. ???

It all depends on your finances. If you can buy the exhaust tomorrow with the tips already installed( eisenmann) than its a no brainer. If you canafford than put on the tips. GET it

Not a matter of being able to affor, just mods versus reward is my main concern. I got the tips for $200 and install wa $50 cash, so $250 not bad. I will get a cross pipe or go with straight pipes for sound

If you want it to sound cool a flowmaster dual in dual out in place of the resonator sounds really cool I have done this on three m3's e36 and one 3.0 x5 it sounds good not louder out the tail pipes just changes the sound to a raspy euro sound IMO

I guess I am not sure what you mean. Put the flowmaster 50 in place of the resonator instead of straight pipe or cross pipe?
