I know this is an OLD post, but it solved my problem!! So very happy camper.
The nozzle highlighted above was actually broken in my car, and as the part I ordered will take about 3 weeks to arrive, I have bypassed the reservoir and simply cross-connected the hoses together. The car runs like a rocket now!! JG |

Indeed old post, and glad could be of help....i wonder what the actual reservoir does though? since the date i posted that issue/fix i found a decent bmw specialist, pricey, but at least honest and knows his stuff!

That is the vacuum tank that connects to the wastegate on the turbo.
If it is not hooked up, then the turbo won't spool up as you accelerate.

I have noticed that although performance is improved while moving, it it still sluggish when taking off from a stop, especially up-hill.
Hope replacing the reservoir will fix this (right now the pipes are connected directly without the reservoir). Will keep you posted. JG |

ahhh I am back with the same issue so many years on but this time piping is connected, so need to check full length of those tubes tomorrow, in the meantime how do i test that vacum accumulator? remove hoses, block one end blow air in it from the other whilst spraying with soapy solution and seeing if it leaks or is cracked?

Heartwarming to see that after 14 years you're still around and with the same vehicle!
