Has anyone installed the 4.6is exhaust tips on a 4.4i?

I heard some guys have welded on the 4.6is chrome oval tips onto the 4.4 exhaust. Anyone got pics of their install? Do you just buy the OEM tips and weld them on, or do you have to install the tips over the existing exhaust pipes?? Just wondering which parts I need to order...

I have the 4.8 tips. I have not put them on my 4.4 yet. You will have to cut off the 4.4 tips and weld on the 4.8 tips. I got my tips from crevier for $118/ea. I posted a pic of them about a week ago in a thread here.

I'm not sure if the tips will fit over the existing pipes but if not, it's a relative simple manner of cutting off the current ones and getting the correct sized pipes that will hold the 4.6 tips on. I have the tips on my 4.4 - Dinan exhaust. Will grab a pic tomorrow.

Another note which I noticed on LeMans X5, there seems to be a rubber trim ring that goes into the hole of the exhaust that kinda *fills up* the space in the hole and the tips. Never knew about this but haven't had a chance to hit the parts guys with info on it. I don't recall anyone mentioning this in the past. Maybe this is something new on the 4.8's ????

Getting the 4.8 tips put on tomorrow. $80-100. They are going to take off the black chrome and cut off the tiny lil puts coming out of the muffler and do some creative welding to get them on. We shall see. Also talked to the guy about gutting my big honking resonator, but the wife told me "NO FUCKING WAY!!!"

Yea there is a part number, I think I posted it here awhile back. They are like $8 each I think. My 4.4 already has them so I did not need to order them. I will lok for the part #.

what kind of shop would be able to cut the exhaust tips and weld on new tips? I'm planning to get hamann exhaust tips but don't know where I can send my car to get it done.

how much did you pay for the labor?

Just about any good muffler shop. Not real hard at all. Paying between $80-100 to the shop to get it done.
