Pairing Blue Tooth Problem

Hello:

I still can't get my BlueTooth on my 2006 X5 to work. I have been searching the archive but found nothing specific. Wondering if someone can help and save me a trip to the dealer.

First of all, my car is 2006 model. I am pretty sure it has BT on it. I also have the information regarding BT passcode that comes with the Owner's Manual. My car does NOT have the snap-in adaptor in the storage compartment, with premium package, and standard stereo (no DSP). I have Motorola RAZR3 phone.

According to the manual, the pairing procedure is the following (taken from "Owner's Manual for full preparation package mobile phone"):

1: Ignition Key myst be in position 0
2: Start pairing
* Without snap-in adaptor:
Ignition key in position 1 or higher

* With snap-in adaptor:
"Button with lips symbol" Press and hold button located
above the snap-in adapter, turn the ignition key to position
1 after approx. 3 secs and release the button after another
3 seconds.

"BLUETOOTH PAIRING" appears on the display or screen.
Depending on how your vehicle is equipped, the indicator lamps
on the onboard monitor or MID flash during pairing.

Since my car has no snap-in adaptor and based on the above procedure, I simply do the procedure [1] and [2] (without snap-in) and at the same time i set my phone to "Look for Devices". If I understand correctly, I would see the message "BLUETOOTH PAIRING". But it does not happen. One thing I didn't do is to start the engine while doing the pairing.

Any idea?

I am not sure that the Bluetooth pairing will appeare on the display if you don have snap in adapter.
When you search with your phone do you find BMWxxxx ? if yes and you cant pair to it then your pin is wrong, you will have to go to a dealer and have it changed.

Here is a more detailed description of pairing, that you may have already read. It is vital to follow the instructions exactly.

PAIRING PROCEDURE E46/E83/E85/E53

Turn Key off and then
1. to KL-R or KL-15.
2. The vehicle is ready for pairing for the first 2 minutes of key on.
If the R/T button on the MFL is pressed, "Activate Phone" appears on the MID or Board Monitor. For the E53 X5 the seatbelt needs to be plugged in and the R/T button pressed on the MFL and "Activate Phone" appears in the Instrument Cluster.
3. During the pairing process, depending on equipment, the indicator lights on MID or Board Monitor display flash.
4. Your mobile phone should now be set to search for BT devices. See the Owner's Manual for your handset.
5. A request to enter a password, PIN, or code appears on the handset display, depending on your model.
Enter the 'BLUETOOTH PASSKEY" (supplied with the vehicle literature), using the numerical keys on the handset and confirm the input. Look for a confirmation message on the handset.
6. To conclude the pairing process, turn the key off.
7. Wait approximately 30 seconds before turning the key back on. The phone will now be connected when the key is turned on. It may take several minutes to initially load the phone book stored in the handset depending on the number of entries.

I tried pairing on my Blackberry 8830 yesterday on my recently acquired 06 4.8is and didn't have any issues. All I did was turn the car on and press the voice key on the steering and then my blackberry found the BMW*** device and I entered my code. I was playing around with it a bit and made a few calls and it also downloaded my BBerry phone book. I still need to learn how to use it fully from the steering wheel.

Good Luck.

I had the same problem before, my X is also 2006. I followed the procedure but my Moto Razr is not pairing with the BT and the stereo display is saying Activate Phone. Follow the procedure while the engine is running and you should be successful.
