Talking Another DIY by Mrbmwx5

here is what i did, while i was replacing the window regulator
and saw this little light was hanging there,( i think it there for all X5 model) i turn on the headlights to see...and it light up, so i dicide to do this mod (cost no money here ) just need
1 hour of labor and an drill bit (16G) and you have new door opener handle with lights.

I almost did this the other day, but did not have time to figure it out.\

Can't wait to see how you did it!!!

I ordered and have installed LED bulbs for all my door entry lights - will post pics soon.

For some reason it appears some of the 2001's have the lights wired, but they did not "install" them in the door panel. When I replaced my door speakers I found these little amber lights taped to the speaker wires - was not sure what they were and at the time I did not know that some models have lit door handles.

That's pretty cool Could it maybe have been for cars that opted in for a factory alarm? I know some cars have the amber lights up by the door locks when the alarm is activated. Also do the X5's have the clown nose alarm light on the rear view mirror?

Regardless, great job man! VEry nice and clean

nothing to do with alarm, my 04 X has it, to illuminate the inside door opener..

thank you. but those lights wasn't for Alarm opt. it for doors handles if you option it from factory.the only different is the insert of the door handles is the hole pre-drill
