Thumbs up VREDESTEIN Ultrac Sessant Tires

I know this is old topic but i thought i'd put in my thoughts on this product. I have been running Toyo Proxes ST on my previous X5 and again on my current one and I have to say that they really are loud on the road. But since i've had these tires for almost 2 years now and the rears are on its last layer before it blows up on me while i'm driving it so i thought I better get new tires. Unfortunately for me, Toyos stopped production on ST model and came out with ST IIs which have a different thread design. Of course, Vredestein were highly mentioned in this forum so I thought I'd give them a try. These were available local to me so I went for them and the price would be pretty much the same as Toyos.

My final review is of amazement that huge 20 inch 315/35s could be so quiet. I am amazed of how I can think while driving the X now without that loud tire noise even with the windows closed. Although I've only driven for a week and its too early to tell but I am a happy camper. It has been mentioned though that these tires are way softer than others. Plus I do miss the Toyo Proxes look of having that squared edge at the edge of the outer tires. It has a nice aggressive look to it. The Vredesteins are a little rounder on the edge.

Besides the edge, I hope these last as long as the Toyos then i'll reallybe happy. All in all, im a satisfied customer.

I heard that the Vredesteins do not last very long at all.. but they are great tires

I have the ST IIs and love them, not loud IMO

I replaced OEM tries with Vred's and 5K miles later I am still very glad I did.

I ran Proxes ST on my other SUV and they were noisy indeed.

how many miles are folks seeing from the Toyos? I have them with currently 9K miles. Tread still looks good. Lots of HWY miles might help. I am hoping to get 25K out of them.

I have the 20" staggered Toyo Proxes ST now for some 5000 kms and still look new.Bought them after reading good reviews here, good value and I loved the tread.
But I tend to agree with some members in that they are very noisy....and not as confortable as Diamaris.

My Toyo Proxes ST lasted me 1 year and 10 months with over 37,000 miles on it. Fronts are still actually good with over 50% left but the inner side walls of the backs are almost to the nylon part. The sales guy I spoke with told me that that's a good life expectancy of the tires since I rode it to the last bit.

He told me that Vredesteins are supposed to last 30,000 miles on it if you don't have a heavy foot. I'll see if this lasts as long as the Toyo Proxes so at least next time, I'll know if I should go back to Toyos or not.

This morning I came across a problem with the Vreds. I caught a nail pretty close to the sidewall. My local tire shop said they cannot repair it because of that. These tires are not available locally. So, now I have to order them and wait a week or so for the replacement to be delivered and I need my X5 badly these days...

Let me correct myself though. This is not a problem with the Vreds but rather with their distribution network. If I had a local store that carried them, I would be rolling on a new one by the end of the day.
