Could someone tell me how you can check if a X5 3.0sd model has the Efficient Dynamics or not (I mean break energy regeneration and so on). Another question; does somebody know if it's possible to lock the steering wheel in the X5 E70 Model? Many thanks in advance |

I could be wrong, but I think all SDs have ED as they were introduced at the same time. The original 3.0d doesn't have it - but the ones built since Sept do.

Any car after built after week 40 was the ED model, There were some early sd's that did not have the Effecient dynamics upgrade ie some from week 36 to 40 ! would be an awfall shame if yours was one of those

The key things to see the Efficient Dynamics
Hi!
If your E70 is Efficient dynamics you could see two automatic blinds behind the front kidney grills. These blinds automatically open or close for controlling the air flow. Take a look of the difference at the linked pictures below. Also your car is ED if you have the AUTO HOLD button for automatic control of the `park break´. My car is E70 3.0D (not SD) and it is ED

Thanks to all,
I have to ask my dealer what is the production week, but I can tell that my X5 has the Auto Hold function. However, if I see the pictures that Enriquemoro sent, my X5 seems to be not ED equiped. It's a bit strange... |

I have a 3.0SD that was built in Week 50, it has the auto-hold etc, but I am 99% sure that it does not have the blinds behind the kidney grilles like the picture.
It's dark here at the moment, but I will check again later. On the registration document the C02 emmissions are listed at 216g/Km which I thought was one of the benefits of ED. |

216g/km certainly indicates that it is the ED model.

I didn't think any SD's were made that weren't ED. I forget which week mine is but it was to my knowledge one of the first in the UK (certainly one of the first on this forum) and it is ED. Mine was built in early November I think, the first or second week the auto tailgate was available.
If the car is an ex-demonstrator it might be different as those cars were about three or four weeks earlier than customer cars. |
