What info is in Heads Up Display

Subject line says it all. I'm considering adding the HUD on my soon-to-be-ordered X5 3.0. For those who have it, besides navi arrows and current speed (which is all I can see in the BMW website photos) is any other information displayed in the HUD? What if you're not currently navigating to a destination - does anything replace the arrows? I can't find any information anywhere else. Thanks.

Jim

Also shows lane deviation warning symbol if you have that option.

i wanted it to have as much information as a fighter jet so I can pretend i am flying in a plane hahaha

Even though i have ordered the option, it was more along the lines of something 'cool' because in all honesty unless you have a warning of something going wrong or gone wrong or you are trying to find your way around (ie satnav) the HUD shows very little information - for the price...

i would have really liked it to replicate not only the speed but also RPMs, fuel and temperature etc. My thoughts being that if one is too lazy to cast their eyes to the dash to see their current speed then one is also too lazy to see how much fuel or range or temp etc etc

Thanks for the inputs, especially the owner's manual recommendation. I'm an idiot for not cheking there first. Thanks to Mi5 for the opinions, too. I think I'll skip the HUD and go for the premium sound package instead. If it had more info or customability I might have gone for it. The other thing that scares me is windshield replacement. My bad luck has always resulted in at least 1 cracked windshield in each car I've owned, and my wife for some reason always finds a way to follow trucks carrying big loads of pebbles and rocks!

I can't drive a BMW without it now. The best thing is the digital read out of the cruise control speed against your actual speed right in front of you side by side.

Also when a warning comes up you don't have to glance down to see what gone wrong, it tell you on the screen.

get it if you can. it tends to be difficult to justify beforehand, but after the fact, it is a no brainer. Totally worth the investment.
