E70 - weird problem

Hello everyone.

Just picked up my new E70 4.8. Put 200 miles on it and came to the most weirdest problem ever. This is not my first x5, but I've never ever seen anything like that.

This morning I started the car and the lights (LEDs) for seat massage, backup camera and parktronic came on all at once and wouldn't go out. Even when I shut off the car, they are still one. 10 minutes later they start blinking at lighting speed and eventually fade out. Also I've noticed that if you drive the car and once you come to a full stop - trassmission roughly starts kicking in the fist gear and pushes you forward.

If anyone have every experienced something like that - your input will be highly appreciated. Hopeing there is a quick reset. Hate to bring the car to the dealer. Its only 2 days old.

Thank you all.

Michael.

Electrical problem seems to exist and you must bring it in if that's the case.

As for the transmission lurching forward - that's commonly reported in 4.8s... tell them about it and see what they say but a lot of people are having to live with it for now. I know it sounds pretty unreasonable.

Thanks RH71. Yeah its been couple of days but the lights are still there on and off. Looks like you're right - it does seem like an electrical problem. Although everything works perfectly. Love the the truck.

What, an electrical problem with a new E70 X5?? A transmission problem with a new E70 X5?? Well, most on our (great!) Board will say they have xx,xxx miles and no problems. There are A LOT of problems with the 07 and 08 E70s.

Hopefully BMW will have, yet another, software update in Sept. for the transmission problems. Sadly, the 7 Series and X3 have been getting software updates for 2+ years, and the transmissions are still bonkers! Sorry!

Just keep taking it to the dealer. They will eventually fix it, or you will acquire the needed amount of visits to Lemon Law it, or have BMW buy it back!

Deutsch100,
Again, if you are unhappy, there is a simple solution. Go to your BMW dealer, walk in, give your salesman the keys to your X5, and go buy another vehicle. I think we are all tired of hearing your complaints. I know you are frustrated, but please GROW UP and STOP WHINING all the time.

In response to the original poster, go to the dealer and get the electrical problem fixed. I wish you the best of luck with your new X5.

I guarantee that when you have a lot of problems, and repeated problems, (especially with 2 E70s)...you will "whine" too. This is an open forum, to discuss problems and joys. A lot of you have to take your head out of BMW's ass, and realize that there are quite a few E70 owners that don't think their exhaust pipes spew gold dust!!!

It's not really whining.

You should see the whining that went on in Bimmerfest for the X3 transmission issues. It got to the point where I asked the mod to make a sticky for it, because every single thread on the first page was a complaint about the AT.

The very nature of an online forum makes it appear as though everyone has a problem. When someone has a problem, they try to fix it by asking questions on a forum. Rarely will the average buyer go on a forum and say that their car is in good working order. This is just the case with open online forums.

Also, why should I feel guilty just because my X5 is fine and yours is not?

You really need to pick your hill to die on, not sweat the small stuff, and move on.
