Tranmission Update SIB 24 06 08 for the 4.8 engine. MUCH SMOOTHER!!!
 

Thought I share and hopefully this could be "sticky" for a while until people get their transmission updated.
Took my vehicle in for oil and brake fluid service. Mentioned to the SA that there seems to be an transmission software update -- also described the jerkiness of the car at low speed.

Work that was performed: (exactly spelled out on the invoice)
SOFTWARE CALIBRATION. SIB 24 06 08 APPLIES.
VARIFIED COMPLAINT. CHECKED FAULTS. NONE STORED.
PERFORMED COMPLETE PROGRAMMING AND CODING PER SIB.

Result: It seems my gas paddle is not as sensitive -- at least from start. The power is still there, but it requires me giving a little more push on the paddle it seems -- the car is no longer "guessing" how much throttle/power to give... From my perspective, driving has definitely improved. Though I only have been driving since I picked it up afterwork. Let us know how yours update turn out!

I will definitely mention the software updates for the tranny to my SA. How long did you have to leave your X with the dealer for them to complete the service?

No long. Dropped it off at 8 am. Got a call at 2:30 said it was ready -- along with oil change and brake fluied flush.

Drove to work today -- if I had to guess, the software update changed the throttle response for when you're "tapping" on the paddle. It probably refined the increments of how much gas to give when driving gently -- for instance as if the the injector is capable of given smaller increments of gas versus before. I thought I also notice the mpg needle doesn't swing so violently. I plan to see if my gas mileage improves. Sorry I am not a mechanic. Whatever I just described may be totally off base. :p:

Mine is in the shop now, and I explained the tranny problem just as you mentioned it to my SA. When I get mine back, we'll see how it turns out for me and what they did. I know they were reprogramming a lot of stuff so far, so I'll probably be getting the same update.

I have mine scheduled for this friday. Unfortunately the dealer wont just do the software reset or update upon my request they have to test it and drive it to see if the stalling is actually an issue. We'll see.

In a seperate thread, I mentioned the update I had done, which was slightly different than yours. They applied SIB 24 01 09. So far, it certainly seems better, but I'll need to do some more driving to see if it really is fixed.

This covers E70 4.8i up to 10/08 production for a problem that was common with even the E53 X5. Glad it worked for you.

That update is for a delayed up-shift in the hill program.

Just got my X back from the dealer..:wow: That SIB240608 software update really took care of the issue. Stalling is GONE...Yahoooo:wow: it runs smoother than a baby's butt.:D
