Good to see you walked away in one piece. Over here in the UK we get a hard time for having SUV's as people think that if your not going off road you have no reason to own one. My friend’s parents where in a head on collision in a Range Rover, teenagers in a smaller car had taken a bend to fast. All 4 kids died, driver of the car traveling behind also died. My friend’s parents were seriously injured but survived because they were in the SUV. My friend now drives SUV's, he is only in his mid 20s and that's very young for a SUV driver in the UK.

thats crazy! glad to hear 1) you made it out OK and 2) the X is a beast in every way not excluding safety
I feel even safer in my X now...when ppl get in my truck they always say damn your doors are heavy. i bet if i show these pics they'll see that its for a good reason..

Thanks, all, for your good wishes. To answer some of the questions, the side curtain & door air bags deployed, but not the front. The air bags on my left did the job, for sure. The car actually flipped into the air, and the thing rolled when it was airborne, therefore, no roll-over marks on the top. It did sort of an arc thru the air & came down on the left side in soft grass in the opposite lane gutter, with the nose against an embankment. All panels except the driver's door are bent or twisted. The rear hatch and tail gate appear ok to the eye, but are twisted somewhat. They served to keep the body more or less square. The guy who hit me, in the green pickup, was unhurt. The front of his rig was destroyed, and the car remained upright, coming to rest in the middle of the intersection. Looked like after he hit me, his rig never moved an inch. And yes, the aches and bruises were worse in the 2d-5th days after, but are now getting better.
I know of the new design for '07, but am not sure I will like the longer, rounder body. Also, don't want to "borrow" my Bride's car any longer than necessary. So, I have ordered an '06 4.4 in sterling grey and truffle brown interior. Other than that, will have the same eqpt. as the one I trashed. Prem, Sport, cold weather and rear climate.
