Question 1st & 2nd Gen N52N CCV?

Trying to confirm, have a 2007 X5 3.0 that is getting a random whistling and now since it has started to get colder now getting rough idle and shaking.....

Doing research pretty sure that the CCV has failed. Very familiar with BMW ODB1 (S50 and M50TU's) and now that I bought this X5 for my daughter have to cut my teeth on the ODB2 and many changes to the engines

Is it the 1st gen that has the CCV mounted under the intake and the 2nd gen has the CCV molded in to the valve cover ???

realoem is showing my X5 was made 01/2007 N52N

I am coming to the conclusion that since it has the plastic valve cover it has the CCV molded in?

Also there is no DISA?

You're correct that the plastic valve cover has the CCV/PCV built in. Your N52 has 2 DISA valves.

OK thanks, thats what I came to conclusion also. So now need to troubleshoot accordingly

Just replace the WaterPump and Thermostat that failed

Started out as a rough idle, now rough idle, shaking, check engine light and limp mode.

Thinking the following needs to be looked further into

- Cam Shaft Position Sensor
- Vacuum leak
- CCV gone bad
- ICV valve

- DISA?

Just bought the ProTools and waiting for the ODB connector to plug in to see what codes if any. the iDrive shows all system check OK
