Which hose in the pic are you talking about? And in what context is this post?

sorry: i'm referring to hose #6 and the device into which it's plugged.
this goes back to my old concerns of when i installed my aFe Magnum Force intake a few weekends ago, and i was asking a lot of people what to do wiht that hose. it USED to be plugged into the bottom half of the stock airbox. of course now that the box is gone, there's nothing to plug it into.........

It goes to the air pump. What does that air pump do?

It's a vent hose. The Air pump is used to recirculate exhaust gases. Number 8 is the interesting item. It’s a valve that closes to prevent moisture from accumulating us stream from the exhaust. That valve will trigger the check engine light if it’s not closing and it should be replaced quickly, moisture will cause that pump to eventually fail, but not before the emission system get a daily dose of moisture from the exhaust system.

I would figure that either way it should be getting filtered air. So if the hose is detached will probably be problems in the long run.

yeah I thought that pipe went to the air pump. You can leave it detached, just get some k&n paper filter and cut out a pattern for it or pantyhose or some fine mesh....etc....etc.......................
