My Cluster Modification

Alright, I loved the way the 4.6is and the ///M5 cluster look. I found out the hard way that you can't transplant a 4.6is or e39 ///M5 cluster in a e53 non-///M car.

Transformation took place. I ordered Aluminum Rings from bimmerparts, and custom Cluster Overlays.

How easy was it to remove the cluster and clear front panel? also how did you adhere the rings?

I was thinking of doing this mod myself.

If you remove the entire cluster after re-connecting are there any issues?

Thanks

Nice work. I've been looking for aluminum rings too. What are the part numbers and what's the link? Thanks.

Looking for aluminum rings, not chrome. I'm aware of the chrome but haven't found the ones seen in the photos of the original post. Aluminum rings were offered in the sport package for 04-06 X5s...and also 4.6(?) and 4.8s with a diff M-style cluster dials.

well I would goto ebay germany and get the titan rings. And to remove the cluster and do this was a major PITA. Hardest part is opening the thing up. And trying to get the overlays on the guages is difficult at best, and I had to buy 2 sets. Would I do it again? Well I had my cluster out of the car for 3 weeks doing all of this, I also tried to repair the pixels. So I was driving my 330i as not to rush myself through this
