So Many Problems!!!

Hey!

I am new to X5World and need some help with my X5 problems.
I have a 2002 X5 3.0 and all of a sudden the air conditioning does not work, there is no air coming out of the vents. Along with that, the DSC Inactive warning, the abs and brake light randomly come on and the speedometer and gas gauge stop working. To top that off, the check brake linings warning is on all the time. I took it in to a indy less then 4 months ago to get the pads, rotors and sensors replaced. I also made sure they remembered to reset them. But the light is still on. I took it in again and they have no idea whats wrong....
I really don't want to go to the dealer... please help me!!
Thanks!

6 year old ride, most likely out of warranty (even CPO is running out on that year). Sadly, I think you need to probably see the mechanic as there are several small issues going on it sounds like.

Ok first...the AC thing is probably your final stage resistor. a cheap and easy fix. you can even do it yourself. there is an article on this site to walk you thru it. Next, your ABs, DSC, brake light thing is most likely a bad sensor. Probably the steering angle sensor. Again relatively inexpensive, maybe 300 - 400 bucks including labor. Third all the other lights on could be a bad ignition switch which throws everything off. Take it to a good indie shop that regularly works on BMW's and German cars.. you'll have the best luck there..GL

The X5 goes though a triage when starting. Based on the voltage at the time the key is turned, it may add or drop systems from the startup list and decide that some systems are not as important as others (safety systems). Whenever anything goes wrong I would first check the voltage.

- most likely the brake job did not include replacement of the brake sensors which need to be replaced if they have already given the warning
