The story of my search for an X ...

It all started when my wife said "I'm bored with the ML430". I replied "You're spoiled. The car still runs great and looks great".

I asked her what she was thinking of and she replied BMW X5. I thought, hhmmm that new X I saw on the road did look nice.
[insert pic of new gen X5 with aero package]

Then I woke up and smelled the coffee once I saw what they were going for! So, I decided to do some research on X5world and joined on Sep 15 this year. Well the 2004-2006 4.8s caught my eye. Power, Style and was more in the affordable range for us. Next thing you know I'm bidding on eBay and put a deposit on a deal for a sweeet 2004 4.8is for only $30,500!

Here it is:

However, I go to pick-up the car and it has curb rash on all the wheels except one, door dings, scratches, passenger adaptive light was stuck, drove rough, had a dented exhaust tip - what a waste of time! I got a refund but aarrrggghh! No more buying cars from eBay for me!

I then saw a local 2004 4.8is that was LeMans Blue with Alcantara interior, all options and even DVD headrests and in great shape! Only $27,500 but ..... had 80K miles! I passed but .... aaarrrghhh!

By this time I knew I wanted a LeMans blue as first choice with silver a close second. I even knew what wheels to get. Some people might call this crazy but I bought the wheels on Sep 25th. BEFORE I even got an X!

20" x 9.5" M5 Reps from Ebay [EUROWHEELSUSA/602-692-4063 ask for Bob]:

Well, of course, by now I was looking and looking every day, every night. Well, I'm here to tell you that I ALMOST got the one I wanted all along.

I did pay for it today but I'll have to wait until this weekend to pick it up - unless I can't resist and inconvenience somebody to go with me! Hahahaha!

Here's the car but do I have a lot more stories behind how I got this car:

2004 4.8is LeMans Blue with Creme(Cream for Rich :p) Interior
- Comfort Seats
- Navigation
- Sliding Load Floor
- 33K Miles / Non CPO vehicle
- Purchase price = $33K

M5 Reps with 30mm spacers on the rear. Sorry, car & wheels dirty. Also condensation in the morning:

Euro Headlights installed:

Aluminum Running Boards with front flares installed:

ACS rep rear spoiler:

work in progress ... My X Page.

Nice... I got rid of our 99 ML430 for the X5 4.8is also. There was nothing wrong with the ML430.. It was still running strong. But after a few years and 120k miles later, it does get boring and you do get tired of it.

Congrats on LeMans Blue on Creme. That's what we got too.

Thanks! We have 115K on ours now and we've had very good luck with it. I was surprised by how much pull it has, much better acceleration than my 2007 Explorer XLT with 300 horses. Might just keep it but it's just money sitting around.

Nice choice! Though I do wish it had the Anthracite or dark poplar. Eh, I'll probably change it to the matching silver trim anyways. Though that piano black I saw on the Hartge X5 did get me thinking a bit.

Michelle: Thanks and if you can't tell ... I'm really excited! Though it's kind of unfair that it will be my wife's daily driver.

mrkbbd: Thanks. Ours is white and has served us well.

Yes, I can tell.

I don't know if I could handle someone else getting to drive it, though! You're right, she is spoiled!

Thanks!

I almost lost this car because I was being stubborn and wanted to buy it for $32K. Turns out right after I left the negotiating table someone put a deposit. Lucky for me he didn't qualify for financing - even after getting a co-applicant. Whew, I found out and closed the deal today.

Congrats, very very nice. Love the 2 tone. Not sure why you'd wanna get rid of 168's though, reckon they look cool.
