Rain Gets Into the X (WTF??)

Okay, this is annoying the shit outta me. It hasn't rained this much in a while here in New York. Today it's been raining all day and I noticed that the X is leaking water into somewhere in the X.... the entire passenger sides floor is full of water in the carpeting & the bar next to the passenger door is dripping rain.... WTF can cause this crap? Sun roof? If so, what does this mean? how can i fix this crap?

I think there was previous posts speaking of this and the reason found was because the passenger door drain plug was clogged with dirt, and the water overflowed. ill try to find the post

No need for explatives. Just ask your question or state your problem. The root of your problem may be the liners in the doors. If they are compromised or the adhesive isn't holding or sealing properly, you can get the type of water leaks you are describing. Hope this helps. If not, it's a starting point. Good Luck!

I would be checking the sunroof drains. Lots of threads if you do a quick search.

Oh, and +1 for no need for the language.

If you got a panoramic roof then that would be my first choice. As JCL said, there are several good write-ups for that issue.

As asid above there are numerous threads on water leak problems. It could be sunroof drains clogged, sunroof surround seal letting more water through than the drainage system can handle, front or rear door vapor barrier letting go and letting water seep into the cabin past the door panel, etc.

I'd search up those threads and use the info to isolate the source of the water ingress, using a hose to find it. Once isolated I/we can tell you the solution, but you will still need to dry out the carpet from underneath as it holds more water than a chamois sponge and can't be dried from the top.

Mine does that too, it is a panaromic sunroof? p.s., do all facelift x5's have a panaromic sunroof?, dont mean to hijack the thread, or was it an option?

p.s., where is the drain plug?

Yes I believe all facelifted X5's have the pano roof... part of the facelift update.

There are 4 drains, one at each corner. The front ones are underneath, right behind the front wheel wells. The rear ones are right at the top of the rear hatch opening, easily seen with the hatch open. The front ones are the main ones to get clogged, easy way to check is to open the glass and slowly pour a cup or 2 of water into the corner drains to see if they are flowing properly and if all the water is draining out from underneath vs going in the cabin under the dash.
