Converted to coil springs-Need to delete "self leveling susp" error!!

I just converted my rear air spring suspension to traditional Coil Springs. My local BMW dealership was unable to delete the "Self Leveling Susp. Inactive" error light. They had my X5 this entire week, contacted headquarters for extra help and software, but were still unsuccessful in removing the error.

I spoke with the Master Technician, and he said that headquarters confirmed that this deletion could be done, but he just couldn't figure it out. He felt that I would have better luck with an independent specialist shop, that may even have access to older software. My local BMW independent specialist did not think they could do this modification either.

I am hoping that someone out there has done this same conversion recently, and successfully deleted the error message. Within reason, I'm willing to travel to a shop that is SURE they can get this done. I live in Springfield, MO and travel to the Chicago and Denver area often to see family. A Chicago or Denver area shop would be my best option, but I'm open to other cities.

Any help is greatly appreciated as I'm running out of options.

Thanks,

Chris

Head over to Bimmerforums.com - The Ultimate BMW Forum then search around in the 5 and 7 forums for "GT1"....hopefully someone can tell you how to code it. While youre here, if you dont get a reply by Tuesday (holiday weekend and all), try PM'ing Weasel or Killcrap.

I found his post on another website, with all of the necessary coding information. Even armed with that info, the dealership still failed to get the job done. Possibly the problem is that they use newer software which is incompatible. I'm trying to find an indy that may have a GT1 computer, or something else to get this done.

Yeah, the new stuff at the dealer can be a pain at times, and doesn't allow us to do as much as the older stuff... Hopefully you can find a place that can help you out!

I'll have to chime in and say that Killcrap pretty much told me to go fcuk myself when I asked him ever so politely for some of his expertise. I really think he doesnt want to be bothered.

He's been mostly the same way on BF.c as well. Killcrap has been like that for years...apparantly that's his nature.

As I said, spend some time over on BF.c in the 5 and 7 forums...there are plenty of GT1 users. Even search here as there are a few floating around here as well.

Please let me know. If you can do it I may need to make a trip out there, or at least report your findings to my local indy to see if they can do it.

Unless your indy has a GT1, they won't be able to do it.
