Ordered the x5! What is combox controller?

My dealer just sent me the specs on my x5 and there is a area that says 6vc combox controller. I have not heard anything about it and neither has my sales guy. Anyone know what this is?

Think this might be the new iPod module, people on the 3-series boards have noticed this has been added to Sept. builds. A good way to know if you're getting the Sept (now Oct) updates for sure.

I'd check on those forums for confirmation.

Weasel will become famous soon enough
Combox controller is the integration between TCU, ULF and Ipod. It makes it all work much better than the old setup. You can now stream music from your phone via bluetooth and still use the steering wheel controls to switch songs, and if you use the USB cable you get full access with full description and album artwork etc.

Although this improves the iPod integration with album art, this still does not include the recently announced "iPod out" capability which essentially mimics the iPod ui on the idrive display. You will need to wait a bit longer for that.

The new ipod features were pushed to October builds. If his dealer does not have any September builds left in there allotment then he may be getting the new features. I pushed my production date to October because of this. The sales guy called bmw for me and they said it was being installed starting in October
