A 'Sunday drive" along the backroad.

This would have been an easier shot to take on the X5, but the black interior would not look as nice SO used the Mustang.

Very cool! Did you use a camera mount of some sort or were you sitting in back?

Here is a similar shot I took by holding the camera out the window of my 04 GTO:

It was on a tripod in the backseat, attached to a cable release.

I've been looking for a suitable mount for outside the car. So far found nothing I'd trust with a DSLR.

TitzPics, both shots!

Last5oh: what do you do: "sandbag" or
prop your 'pod? How to keep it stable?

The Mustang's rear seats are a 50-50 split fold-down. I wedged a leg between the folded backrests and drive like I had 'hard-boiled eggs' under the gas pedal.

On the X5 (60-40 split) I will definitely need a LOT of sandbags/weight, my camera and lens weighs about 4 lbs. The good thing with the X5 is that it has a MUCH BETTER ride.

For those wanting to try this, settings were:

1/10 sec at f8.0 ISO 200. Lens was 17mm. You can go from there.

Thanks for the tips, Last5oh!

I see vid/still cam mounts on m'cycles regularly, but have not seen a heavy
DSLR attached; I too would be nervous about it tumbling down the highway.
Cool pics!

The only thing that i've been intrigued by was a headrest camera mount, I haven't seen anything that looks substantial for holding the SLR up at night. Hell, I got a mini tripod to try and take some long-shutter night shots and it doesn't stand a chance against my JV nikon.

I went to upload one of my latest and I haven't dumped my SD card in a month. Yikes. My current thing is to have someone rest the lens on the front edge of the sunroof, and hope to god that it isn't 20º out (like last time.) Time for a spring drive...

There is this Fat Gecko camera mount I was shown:

Fat Gecko Camera Mount - Extreme Suction Cup Mount - Delkin Devices

The salesman said it can take a small DSLR...ha! BUT if the suction cups can support a DSLR how do you know it won't pull the paint off!!???

Notice how the company website aviods publishing detailed specs?
