Newb Question about INSPECTION displaying on cluster.

hi, Newb to the site I am an e46 guy normally. However, my mother owns an E53 4.4 and yesterday she went to turn it on and when she did it showed "inspection" on the right part of the cluster (I believe this is where it shows when you need to change your oil). I'm assuming she may need an oil change which is no problem, but when she turns it on it turns right back off, is this normal of X5's? would an oil change alone take care of this? or is there an easy fix for this?
Thanks very much

The grean yelow and red lights on the cluster
How does that part look like ?

The change it self will not make the cluster stop showing service message, it has to be reseted.

there was a red light and a yellow light on. so im assuming the oil change is needed, which is ok. but what is scaring me is that i turn on the truck and it turns right back off. i reseted the indicator using this http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/x5/e...ts-bmw-x5.html that reset the "inspection" message and the lights r back to the green, but the truck still turns off... any ideas at all?

Same thing happened to me awhile ago. Try checking air system (sensor, hoses, clamps). Stealer also replaced my Idle Control Valve.
