eml light on

Hi all, new to this forum, owner of a 2001 X5 3L (gas no diesel). I have a problem with the eml light which in on quite often. If this light is on, the engine starts but can't rev above 1000 rpm. If the eml light goes off after some seconds, the engine starts and revs ok.
I noticed that the ABS and brake pad lights are on too. So my questions:
- Do the ABS and pad lights "ask" to the ECU to drive the EML light on?
- What should be the best option or a test procedure to see what happens?
Thanks everyone, sorry for my english!
JL

Hi, thanks for the message.
Yes I finally found that it was a worn ABS sensor. In the meantime I've got a Peake scanner, the best investment I've done so far!
