BMW Repair Shop Recommendation in Mississauga, Ontario - Columbus Auto
Columbus Auto 6741 Columbus Road, Unit 8 Mississauga, Ontario 416-882-1439 Some history. I am a BMW nut. I've owned several and repaired many myself since I came into BMW ownership in 2000. I track my original 328i, do most of the work on it myself and am fairly mechanically inclined. For big jobs or ones that I just don't have time to do, I'll take my car to a shop. Over the years I've tried several shops in the Toronto/Niagara area along with a few dealers. Lack luster results at best, and sometimes complete failures (crushed oil filters, reuse of old diff gaskets, not able to follow instructions, grenaded parking brakes...there are many such experiences over the years). Needless to say, I pay a price to bring my cars somewhere, only to end up redoing the entire job myself (subframe bushings on the 328 were fun to redo after forking out over $1k to have a shop mess it up). I was using an indy shop for the initial X5 repairs, picked up a 535i and had them do some of those. Several issues with quality of work, attention the detail and just generally caring about my cars. Trust me, I'm not afraid to spend money, yet it seemed challenging to get the level of service I wanted. But, they were the best I had seen in the last 14 years, so I stuck with them. I needed the intakes cleaned on the 535i (direct inject needed a media blast to clean) and my buddy recommended Ivo. I gave him a shot and haven't looked back since. Some highlights: - his prices are remarkably fair - he doesn't nickel and dime - he stands behind his work - both he and his other ex-BMW master mechanic are passionate about fixing cars - they won't give up on an issue - he has the right equipment/software - he is flexible (works to 6pm, open most Saturdays, responds to texts) - has Wi-Fi so you can work from his front office - he works on BMWs 50% of the time and is well rounded in the brands of vehicles he services (Porsche, Merc, Audi, VW are some of the brands I've seen while I've been there) You get the drift. So far, they have done the following for me: On my 535i: - intake cleaning (3-4h job requires exposing the intake ports) - oil pan gasket with subframe drop - turbos (this was a biggie!) - battery register (I couldn't get my software to work) On my X5: - timing chain cover gasket - alternator bracket gaskets (subframe drop and a royal pain if I had to do it from a garage floor) - intermediate lever calibration - steering shaft U-joint install He doesn't mind you bringing in parts either. I'm able to source from the US, so this works out well. The turbos saved me huge doing it this way. Either way, I rarely fill out surveys or feel compelled to take the time to provide such a reference, but this shop deserves the praise. If you get there, ask Ivo how he came to be running his own shop. It's a story that just reinforces why you'll get the experience so few other shops can deliver. Let him know I sent you. Cheers.
