Smile 2004+ Fog Light Replacement

Hey Guys,

I'm Trying To Replace My Fog Lights. However, I'm Not Sure If This Is A Diy Project. I Searched The Forum. It Looks Like You Need A Special Tool To Remove The Front Fog Light Trim. Any Suggestions On Removing The Trim On A 04 X4 4.4 With Washers/pdc?

Thanks

If it's a 2004 facelifted X, I just yanked out one side of the foglight cover (painted one) carefully and worked around it until the whole thing came off. Once you got that off, then you will see two screws that hold the actual fog light that you take off (found in the bottom of the housing). After that's taken cared of, you can pull out the whole fog light housing and do as you wish

Jaba,

Thank you. Did you use any special tools? How about a starting point? I would hate to break the painted trim.

Same vehicle here, and I didn't use any special tools.

I was wary about breaking something, too. Jaba is correct. The foglight cover has a small cutout where you can insert your index finger to begin to remove it. Then, gently pry out the entire cover, working your way around the cover, which should then just pop right off. When you are done, it just pops (presses) right back in.

Here's an excellent article for the pre-facelifted models, but the procedure is exactly the same. It's a quick and easy DIY project

Good luck.

I didn't feel the need for any special tools, just a philips screwdriver for the screws. What i did was to try to grab as much of the cover from the small opening between the foglight cover and the actual foglight housing (as mentioned by verbalkint). Then i gave it a good yank, just to make sure one side loosens up. After successfully doing that, everything should come out smoothly when you try to pry out the rest of the entire cover. First time i did it, I thought a broke something but turns out that everything was fine. Goodluck and check out verbalkint's link as well.

Thanks everyone for their input. I removed the fog light cover without incident. I installed xenon matching fog lights. Thanks for the tips.

Hi mtd,

I purchased the Xenon-matching fog lights from Hoen. It was a 55W/H11 bulb.
