If your doing the studio thing then we are on the same page regarding the DSP thing. I have often said that it depends on what you listen to in the X5. I have an Eric Benet/Terry Dexter-buttered soul remix "Spend my life with you". That single sounds so good in the X that it's hard to believe it's the same system when i play other mixes. There are other selections that stand out also but i have been use to listening to music from a flat freq response for a long time so i have gotten used to what the X5 is gonna do with different music. The ears also play a part

if you're getting too much bass, then turn down the bass settings to where you like them.

I'm right there with you Wagner...I think the mids and highs in the X don't sound bad at all.

NO dis-respect but if thats what your listening to, and if thats where you got the music then i suggest that #1 your source is not very good #2 you cant expect to get good results when the recorded quality of the music you downloaded was bad to begin with.

Exactly, bad in bad out. The crap you get off the internet is all over the map. Lame uploads and the music companies are spending millions of dollars putting bogus files out there to mess with you. You're getting songs in various bit rates that between the eq on ipod, eq in car, dsp, soundcheck setting in ipod and compressed bit rates at likely various levels you're getting a messy output.
Limewire is contributing to killing the music business and is loaded with spyware and usage tracking agents.
Save the music business, you'll thank us later.

well I have an 06 , mostly listen to CD's ( thinking about ipod conversion) and I love it. There are a couple of top gun songs that make the outside mirrors vibrate. My wife wishes she would have ordered it for her 330 06. don't listen to music on radio only talk , never use the hidden cassette ( what were they thinking).

With some simple improvments like a sub amp and a good subwoofer to get more profond bass and the BSW speaker upgrade the DSP system is really transformed. I am an audiophile, I like all kind of music and I do really like the way my DSP sounds now. Proof that the basis is not bad. Yes you can do better but for much more money and the difference is not worth the price IMO.

If you are going to add amp, sub and speaker upgrades anyway, is the $1,200 extra really worth it for DSP.
Wouldn't the same upgrades to the stock non-DSP system have ended up with the same end result?

I added a sub amp, replaced the stock 6" subs by one integrated 10" Sub and I upgraded the mid ranges with DSW ones and I spent about $400 all together plus my time.
