Thumbs up Just Installed! Alpine PLV-7 subwoofer system

Hi Everyone,

Just got the PLV-7 installed yesterday and WOW, am I impressed! Actually, it might be overkill, but I'd rather have overkill and turn it down than be underwhelmed. The amazing thing is that the box does not vibrate at all, no matter how loud it is. My buddy saw it and couldn't believe how much bass was coming from a box that size. Here are some pics of the system in the X.

The unit itself is over 70lbs, so it doesn't move with normal driving. I bought a 45" rubber strap (the one you see in the 4th pic) from a local hardware store, but that's mainly to make sure the unit stays in place during spirited driving. The unit itself does not vibrate at all, not even at max volume. It's kinda trippy because you have all this pounding bass, but when you touch the box, it's "calm".

'Spirited driving' : I like this term
As to your bow : do you tap into the (rear) speaker wires to give it signal ?

I had the box installed at a shop, but I gave them the instructions from the article alpac wrote to tap the wires on the factory amp so that they wouldn't have to go through trial and error to find the wires. I believe the wires alpac says to tap are the ones to the oem subwoofer.

That LAT unit was developed by Vifa/Tymphany and is supposed to be pretty good.

Too bad it's a big black box...

too bad because it doesn't match all interiors, or can't be carpeted to match?
