Tire/Wheel Staggered but not?

I have a 2001 4.4 with sport package. It has style 63 OEM 19in wheels. I had not paid to much attention to them as they have been off for the winter.

What I have noticed is that all four tires are the same size. Continental 255/50/R19's. They are OK for now but will probably need to be replaced before too long.

Is it possible that the wheels are staggered as the manual suggests and that narrower tires than specified are on the back? Would they fit the bigger wheel?

Or is there a chance that the wheels in fact are all the same size? Is there an easy way to tell what size they are with the tires on?

Manual says Front 255/50/R19 Rear 285/45/R19

Sorry for all the questions, just wondering why they are all the same.

Check the numbers on the inside of the ims spokes, one of the spokes will have the part # and another will have the size. That will tell you what you have.

it is very possible to have the narrow tire on the wider rim. If you go on tirerack and look up the tire brand and line, you can go to specs to look up your size, and it will tell you the range of widths that it can fit on.

most likely, the previous owner preferred to allow front/rear rotation of tires to even wear, but the dynamics of the tire will be different, as the different wheel widths will change the geometry of the tire.

I would stick with the proper tire sizes (255/285) next time around, or get matching pair of wheels to keep a square setup (all 4 wheels the same)

I agree that oem style 63 call for/came with staggered size tires, as those
wheels, if oem, are indeed 9x19 F & 10x19 R. As mentioned, the previous
owner put on even sizes all around.

If oem/staggered wheel size you can choose to retire in staggered size, imo.

Thanks for the answers, I'll dig them out of the warehouse and take a look at them tomorrow.

Better wait a couple more weeks to put them on though.
