So if the door handle doesn't lift or barely lifts a mm, the DHC can handle enough force to pull it hard to break the ice?

So this got me thinking, is this just a complete design flaw or is something else worn (like a door seal or weatherstripping) causing water to even form there?

When my doors are locked I can still pull my door handles. You mean if you shave off the piece it won't allow the handle to move when locked?

I think it’s two different parts getting frozen. Mine was the dhc not allowing me to pull the handle enough to engage as I was still able unlock/lock with my key fob.
